Welcome to the 2006 Reunion page

This year we had a lot going on. So much that I couldn't keep up with it all. We had a Tiki hut decorating contest. You name it they had it. I think Lee and Lynette who both arrived early to the reunion were in a decorating war. They both kept trying to one up each other. Here are a few pics of the decorating madness. The left picture was Lynnette's and the right picture is Lee's which was the winning cabin.

The first night was a little rainy. I think three storms pasted thru making it a little on the wet side, but that didn't stop the our usual nightly campfire.   While at the campfire we had an ice breaker activity. I guess it could be called the Name Game. Here we had a sheet where you used different letters of your first and last name to make up a new funny name for yourself. To play along yourself click here - Name Game Sheet. After that a scavenger hunt was started. We had to listen to old beach music to get clues for what we were to hunt for. Each Cabin got a bag of three things. Some were items that were part of the scavenger hunt and others where decoys. Amber Gardner ended up winning the scavenger hunt and her reward was a funny hat.

Saturday started out nice. The rain clouds started burning off and the sun finally came out. The first half of the day was spent by most chatting, swimming in the pool, and swimming in the lake. Around lunch time Several family members started on the traditional Sand castle contest held at the camp ground. They built a Tiki Man head and tied for first place with another group who made the head of Yogi Bear. Ours was better but how can you beat a Yogi Bear head at Yogi Bears Jelly stone Park camping resort. The judges were biased. :) To check out our Award Certificate click here - Tiki Man Award. When you get there scroll down past the Name Game Sheet.

The next event of the day was our annual afternoon dinner. Since we had had a lot of rain and the sky clouding up, we decided to put up a bunch of tarps. Thank goodness we did cause it started pouring rain shortly after we got started eating. Dinner was once again a spectacle. The older, more wise ones in our family had a special table set up for them to sit. As lunch commenced, out came Paul and Lee wearing Tiki women outfits and carrying a cooked ham.

Another Event that occurred at the beginning of Dinner was a marriage proposal. Ashley's boyfriend Eric got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

After the feast we began our annual auction. As always Ralph Lee was our auctioneer. Paul was our.....well the best way I can put it is....Price is Right Girl. He held up and showed off all the items like the girls do on the game show. Sorry Paul I had too:) Anyway we auctioned off lots of items. Here is our auctioneer and some of the items being shown off by Paul:

The very last thing auctioned off was Lee's auctioneer hat. Zachary bid and won this item. But unknown to him, his purchase also came with the right or curse to be next years auctioneer.

Here is the Auction list and who won what.

After the auction we had a watermelon seed spiting contest and the kids got to try and smash up a wet piñata.

Later that night things got strange. The campground had a very strange yet interesting contest. I don't know what to call it so I will just try and explain it. It was a beauty contest of sorts. Only it was men dressed as women. And of coarse you know that Lee had to strut his stuff. Contestants had to show off their talents or lack thereof and finally a winner was judged by the crowd's applause. We were once again robbed of victory. Cause Lee sure was pretty....ugly that is. Just kidding Lee. Check out his beauty for yourself.

As the Saturday night festivities came to an end. Lester chained up his trailer and hid all his stuff in the cabin to prevent any of our famous Saturday night family thefts from occurring to any of his property. As far as I know nothing went missing.

Sunday was the usual sad day of goodbyes. Most everybody spent the morning packing up and making their last visits of the weekend. All in all this was another great family reunion. Well except for the rain.  I can't wait till next year.
